After holiday DISCOUNTS!

With the holiday hustle and bustle I managed to add a couple new Etsy listings and totally forgot to update my blog! Along with the 4 new pieces of handmade jewelry on my Etsy site - Unique Handmade Jewelry by MKFD - I also added a new section to my Etsy store for discounted sale items.

The great thing about this section is that it is pre discounted, meaning the prices have already been adjusted for you! No need to wait on a paypal refund to receive your savings on this fine handmade jewelry.

With all that being said, it's time to start thinking about the next big gifting holiday - Valentine's day! All of the pink, heart, and love themed items will be featured in my jewelry shop until the 14th - enjoy!

Hectic Holidays

If you couldn't tell by some of the descriptions of my jewelry, I make a lot of gifts for friends. A lot of the time, they are experimental pieces that I've never tried before. I guess it makes me feel less pressured to create something if I am planning to give it as a gift because there's really no monetary value attached to it and I can always create something else if this earring design or necklace doesn't turn out just right.

I hate to sound stereotypical, but let's face it: this Christmas isn't as easy as the ones that came before it, no matter what your profession. But when it comes to presents this year, really the only budget crisis I'm having is TIME! With setting up my own jewelry shop this month, I almost completely forgot about Christmas!

So I've got 20 dozen cookies to bake for friends, along with at least half a dozen beading projects, followed by a cross stitch for my mom and stepdad. I feel like I'm drowning in projects!
That being said, my jewelry making for this website may have to be put on a slight hiatus. I will, of course, still be available to receive payment and ship any jewelry that you need for your holiday shopping! Just perhaps not uploading as much new jewelry to choose from until after the holiday season.

That being said - have a great holiday season and I look forward do seeing you in the new year!

I just had to give this little guy his own showcase in my blog! Not only is he my avatar here and on ArtFire, but he has a great story. This little swarovski crystal corgi puppy wasn’t just a whimsical jewelry project – he has a special purpose.

Almost 6 months ago now, one of my very close friends moved to Maine for a job transfer, leaving his friends and not to mention his beloved Corgi, Chubbs, at home alone. My friend loves his corgi very much, and holds a special place for the breed, so I thought the best Christmas present I could make him would be to get him a corgi.

Of course, since it’s illegal and hazardous to ship live animals through the post (not to mention the mess they would cause!), I figured making him this 3D swarovski crystal corgi would be the closest thing to having his little Chubbs in his lonely Maine apartment.

I do things like this whenever I can – and I’m not bragging! Rather, I would like to inspire you to personally think about this holiday season. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Chaunukah, Yule, or something completely unique, try to make someone’s day, week, or even month by what you do for them this holiday season.

Lastly, if you’d like a Chubbs of your very own, his twin can be purchased for just $15 by using the paypal button below. If you’d like him in custom colors, or even if you’d prefer a different breed entirely, send me an email at owner.mkfd(AT)live.com

I finally gave in...

And got a blogger account. They're not great for getting google to recognize your site like my wordpress blog - Unique Handmade Jewelry - but everyone on Etsy has one, and pretty much all exposure is good, so here I am :)

I have been sick and not beading, but no worries! I could not bead for like a year and still be able to upload new things to Etsy pretty much daily.

Today I uploaded 2 new pairs of earrings to Etsy. One is a returning favorite - my first ever sale on Etsy, the sculpey sushi earrings!
I also uploaded a new chandelier earrings design that was very popular at the craft show last week. These ones have cute little suns in them and bright orange glass beads along the bottom of the earrings. Let me know what you think!

Since I built my light box a few days ago, my pictures have been coming out clearer, but they're still not perfect. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be glad to hear them :)
